Though she was born in Fort Scott, Delynn didn’t officially move here until her fourth birthday—which she spent in a U-Haul traveling from Texas. Since then, she’s been part of Community Christian Church and an unofficial member of the “preacher’s family UNvolunteers” club.
Delynn officially joined the CCC staff in 2020, but she’s worn many hats long before that. She attended Ozark Christian College for general Bible classes, Pitt State, and Grand Canyon University, where she majored in Graphic Communication with a minor in Commercial Art. She also holds a cosmetology license and does nails on the side. If there were a prize for most colleges attended on staff (and the widest variety of skill sets), she’d definitely win.
Delynn met her husband Tony at Community in 1994—she was four, and he was ten. As a middle schooler, Delynn had a (very one-sided) crush on Tony, but with a 6.5-year age gap, it seemed laughable they’d ever end up together. Fast forward to 2016, when they both found themselves working at WardKraft. One thing led to another, and the rest is history. Today, they’re raising their three kids—Max, Arlie, and Drake—in the same church where their story began.
When she’s not at CCC, Delynn coaches the Fort Scott High School Dance Team, works as a nail artist, wrangles her three kids, and somehow still finds time to craft and obsess over grammar. She often says she can’t believe she found a job that lets her blend creativity and copy editing, and as a bonus, she gets to do it in the church where she grew up.
Books, Movies, or Podcasts:
Always on the go, Delynn is a big fan of audiobooks and podcasts. Her favorite book series is Harry Potter—ask her anything, and she probably knows the answer. She’s been known to reference HP in youth talks, and if (when) she preaches again, expect a few more magical references. Her podcast queue includes everything from true crime to Adventures in Odyssey.
Favorite Ministry Memory:
“Like most of the staff, it’s hard to pick one moment. But the times God has used my story—whether through late-night talks at CIY, small group moments on Wednesday nights, or even unexpected one-on-one conversations—have been some of the most powerful and meaningful experiences of my life.”
